On December 8, 2021, over 100 aBlogtoWatch audience members and guests met at Feldmar Watch Co. in Los Angeles, to experience dozens of exciting new Seiko timepieces and help celebrate the 140th anniversary of the Japanese brand. This was the first event since the beginning of the pandemic held at the historic watch retailer in Los Angeles but certainly not its first event with aBlogtoWatch. Scott Meller of Feldmar Watch Co. commented on how impressed he was with the engagement of the guests and their passion for Seiko products. Mr. Meller is not alone in this sentiment.
Professional watch retailers around the United States often brim with respect and enthusiasm for both Seiko as a company and the Seiko products themselves. Sentiments such as “customers don’t return them with issues” and “Seiko has always treated us well” are common words from the men and women across the U.S. who outfit their clients with Seiko timepieces. Seiko watch lovers also often come into stores with above-average knowledge about the brand and its latest products, which keeps the best watch salespeople on their toes and excited to work with Seiko-loving customers.
Seiko offered a few special treats for its 140th birthday celebration, while our Feldmar hosts provided food and Japanese whiskey to guests fawning over hard-to-find models and fresh novelties. Among the special watches brought in exclusively for the aBlogtoWatch event were an assortment of “JDM” (Japanese Domestic Market) products not typically available in the U.S., as well as an assortment of historic 1960s-era sports watches from the Seiko archives collection.
Seiko USA was also excited to display some of the America-only special-edition watches such as the latest Seiko Prospex Ice Diver models (aBlogtoWatch review here), and others from the Seiko Prospex LX collection of higher-end wristwatch models, including the Seiko Prospex LX Seigaiha diver’s watches (aBlogtoWatch hands-on here). Seiko also shared some sneak peeks from its recent photography adventure in Alaska with famed ice diver photographer and brand ambassador Becky Kagan Schott (who aBlogtowatch featured here).
Feldmar Watch Co. and Seiko also chose the evening of the aBlogtoWatch audience event to debut the latest USA-only special edition Seiko Prospex LX titanium Spring Drive GMT reference SNR051 watches. Everyone had an exciting night playing with (and buying) loads of brand-new Seiko watches priced from just a few hundred dollars to luxury models priced up to $6,000 USD.
aBlogtoWatch produced a special video to capture the important 140th-anniversary event for Seiko fans around the world to enjoy. Spending time with Seiko team members and product fans is a truly enjoyable experience for members of the aBlogtoWatch team. Thank you to everyone for coming out, as well as our host, Feldmar Watch Co. here in Los Angeles. We look forward to seeing you at the next aBlogtoWatch event.
