Short answer

"5811/14G" is not a Patek Philippe reference. Patek's white gold Nautilus from 2022 is 5811/1G-001. No Patek catalog entry uses the suffix "14G". Sellers on replica sites use strings like 5811/14G as internal codes for a batch, a dial color, or a plating spec. Treat the string as seller shorthand, not factory data.

The genuine 5811/1G-001

  • Case: 41 mm, white gold, water resistance 30 m.
  • Thickness: about 8.2 mm.
  • Dial: blue sunburst, date at 3 o'clock, baton markers.
  • Movement: calibre 26-330 S C, automatic, 28,800 vph, 45 hour power reserve.
  • Bracelet: white gold, fold-over clasp.
  • List price at launch in 2022: near USD 70,000. Gray market prices ran above that.

The 5811 replaced the 5711, which Patek discontinued in 2021. The 5811 case is 1 mm wider than the 5711 case.

What replica listings mean

Listings for a "Nautilus 5811" fall into three groups.

  1. Steel cases with gold color plating. Case metal is 316L stainless steel. Plating thickness runs 1 to 5 microns. Plating wears at the clasp and the crown.
  2. Steel cases in 904L steel, sold as a closer match to gold weight. 904L is a steel alloy. It is not gold.
  3. Cases with gold wrap or solid gold, listed from USD 1,500 up. Seller claims at this tier cannot be checked from photos.

Movements in these watches are Miyota 9015, Seiko NH35, or a 2824 clone. A small share use a decorated clone sold as a "324 SC clone." Density is the one spec a buyer can test: steel is about 8 g/cm3, 18k white gold is about 14.5 g/cm3.

US law

Counterfeit watches are illegal to import into the United States and illegal to sell. 18 U.S.C. 2320 sets criminal penalties. A first offense carries up to 10 years in prison and a USD 2,000,000 fine for an individual. U.S. Customs and Border Protection seizes shipments and destroys the goods under 19 U.S.C. 1526. A rights holder can sue under 15 U.S.C. 1117 and recover statutory damages up to USD 2,000,000 per counterfeit mark for willful conduct.

A "first copy" watch that carries the Patek Philippe name and the Nautilus case shape is a counterfeit under this law. Calling it a replica does not change that status.

Checks that return facts

  • Ask for the movement caliber and a photo of the rotor. A Miyota 9015 has a plain finish. A Patek 26-330 S C has Geneva stripes and a gold rotor.
  • Ask for a clasp photo. Genuine white gold clasps carry hallmarks and a reference stamp.
  • Ask for total weight in grams. A solid gold bracelet at 41 mm lands far above a steel one.
  • Serial and reference stamps: Patek stamps both. Many replicas omit one or use mismatched numbers.

Unknown: no independent lab publishes test data on replica 5811 batches. Plating thickness and gold content claims come from sellers. Nobody verifies them at scale.
