- Measure the case across the bezel at 3 and 9 o'clock. A genuine Racing reads 44.25 mm; most fakes land at 43 mm or 45 mm.
- Measure the case thickness from the top of the crystal to the caseback. Genuine is about 14.9 mm, and fakes with a modular chronograph movement run thicker.
- Weigh the watch head on its own and then with the bracelet fitted. A steel Racing Master Chronometer comes in near 175 g to 185 g depending on the number of links.
- Inspect the bezel insert with the loupe. Genuine is polished ceramic with the tachymeter scale cast in Liquidmetal, sitting flush with the surface.
- Tilt the watch under a lamp. The genuine Liquidmetal scale reads as a soft metallic grey-white that shifts with the light angle.
- Check that the tachymeter numerals are not raised, printed, or peeling. Painted numbers on a matte or plastic ring are a counterfeit sign.
- Count the sub-dials. This reference has two: small seconds at 9 o'clock and a 60-minute chronograph counter at 3 o'clock.

- Ask the seller for the original purchase receipt or an Omega service record.
Why the certificate matters most
Every Master Chronometer ships with a METAS-issued card that carries a code tied to one specific movement. Omega publishes the precision and magnetic test results for that code. A replica seller can photocopy a card, but the code will not resolve to the watch in your hand. If the code fails, stop there. No other check matters after that point.
