Short answer
The Rolex GMT-Master II 126710BLNR is a 40 mm stainless steel watch with a black and blue ceramic bezel and a Jubilee bracelet. Collectors call it the Batgirl. A fake 126710BLNR is a watch built to look like that reference and stamped with the Rolex name, with no Rolex parts, no Rolex movement, and no Rolex serial number. Replica sellers price these watches from about $50 to $800. In the United States, selling, importing, or trafficking in them is illegal.
The genuine 126710BLNR
Rolex released reference 126710BLNR in 2019 as the replacement for the 116710BLNR. The main changes were the bracelet and the movement.
- Case: 40 mm, Oystersteel, 100 m water resistance.
- Bezel: Cerachrom ceramic insert, blue and black, 24-hour scale, platinum-coated numerals.
- Movement: caliber 3285, automatic, 70-hour power reserve, Chronergy escapement, blue Parachrom hairspring.
- Bracelet: Jubilee with Oysterlock clasp and Easylink extension. Rolex added an Oyster bracelet option in 2021.
- US retail: about $11,000 in 2024. Authorized dealers keep waitlists, so most genuine sales happen on the secondary market at a premium.
Replica tiers and prices
Fake 126710BLNR watches fall into three groups.
- Cheap tier, $30 to $120: quartz or low-grade automatic movement, printed bezel insert, mineral glass, hollow bracelet links. The two bezel colors bleed at the border.
- Mid tier, $150 to $400: automatic movement with a GMT function, sapphire crystal, solid links. Date font and cyclops magnification are wrong.
- Clone tier, $450 to $800: copies of the 3186 or 3285 movement, ceramic insert, case and bracelet machined close to genuine dimensions. Sellers use the term super clone.
Prices move with exchange rates and supply. Sellers change factory names and web addresses often. None of these watches carry a manufacturer warranty.
Tells that separate a fake from a real one
- Cyclops magnification. Rolex uses 2.5x. Most fakes sit near 1.8x or 2x.
- Crystal. Rolex applies anti-reflective coating under the cyclops. Many fakes coat the whole crystal, which gives a blue or purple sheen.
- Hand stack. On the genuine caliber 3285 the 24-hour hand sits below the hour hand. Older replicas put it on top.
- Rehaut. The inner ring engraving on a genuine watch lines up with the hour markers. On fakes the ROLEX lettering drifts out of alignment.
- Bezel insert. The blue to black transition on Cerachrom is sharp. Painted inserts fade at the border.
- End link fit. Jubilee end links on a genuine watch sit flush against the case. Gaps and sharp edges show on fakes.
- Movement. The genuine 3285 has a free-sprung balance and a blue Parachrom hairspring. Clone movements use a regulated balance with a stud.
- Serial and card. Rolex serials sit between the lugs at 6 o'clock, hidden by the bracelet. A warranty card that does not match the case is a warning sign.
Legal status in the US
18 U.S.C. § 2320 makes trafficking in counterfeit goods a federal crime. A first offense carries up to 10 years in prison, and repeat offenses carry higher terms. The Lanham Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1114, lets Rolex sue sellers and recover profits and damages. U.S. Customs and Border Protection seizes counterfeit watches at ports of entry. The agency applies the same rule to personal-use imports, so one watch mailed from abroad can be held and destroyed.
Risks beyond the law
- No service. Rolex service centers reject counterfeit watches. Independent watchmakers may lack parts for clone movements.
- Water resistance. Sellers claim 100 m. Most fakes are not pressure tested, and gaskets are the first part to fail.
- Materials. Plating and alloys on low-tier fakes can release nickel, a common skin allergen.
- Resale. A fake has no resale market. Pawn shops and auction houses refuse them.
- Payment. Replica sites take bank transfer or crypto. Chargebacks are not available, and shipping disputes end with the buyer holding the loss.
