A fake Portugieser 37mm is a counterfeit of the IWC Portugieser Automatic 37, reference IW4583xx. The genuine watch carries a 37.0 mm case and a listed thickness near 10.8 mm. Most replicas sold under that name measure 38.5 mm to 40 mm across the case and 12 mm or more thick on calipers.

Where replicas deviate
Case size is the first check. Sellers put "37mm" in the title and ship a case built on a 39 mm or 40 mm blank. Measure across the case at 3 and 9 o'clock, then at 12 and 6. A wider reading means the listing name is wrong. IWC does not publish lug-to-lug for every reference, so third-party numbers for that figure are estimates.
Dial work separates the two grades. Applied numerals on replicas show rounded edges and uneven polish. Subdial printing runs thicker. The date font is wider than the genuine, and the date window sits lower on the dial. Feuille hands on replicas have blunt tips.
