Short answer

A fake Omega Planet Ocean Ultra Deep 6000m is a replica of a titanium dive watch Omega released in 2022. The genuine watch carries a 6,000 m rating and ISO 6425 dive certification. Replicas copy the case shape, dial text, bezel, and caseback engraving. They do not carry that depth rating. Listings that print "6000m" on a replica are marketing text, not a test result.

The genuine watch in numbers

  • Case: 45.5 mm diameter, about 18.1 mm thick
  • Material: Grade 5 titanium
  • Water resistance: 6,000 m / 20,000 ft, ISO 6425 certified
  • Crystal: domed sapphire, about 5.2 mm thick
  • Movement: Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8912
  • Power reserve: 60 hours
  • Magnetic resistance: 15,000 gauss
  • Lugs: Manta style, no standard spring bars
  • Retail price: about $12,000 to $13,000 USD

The 2019 Ultra Deep Professional prototype logged a 10,928 m dive in the Mariana Trench with pilot Victor Vescovo. The 2022 retail model took the case design from that prototype.

What replicas copy

Replica makers target the outside of the watch. Case profile, bezel insert, dial print, and the outer caseback. Replica cases land at 45 mm to 46 mm. Thickness often passes 18 mm because the movement sits in a spacer ring. Weight is the easy tell. Grade 5 titanium is light. Many replicas use 316L steel, so the watch feels heavier on the wrist than the real one.

Where replicas differ

  • Water resistance: common replicas hold 30 m to 100 m in a pressure tank. Gaskets and caseback threads are the weak points.
  • Movement: Asian clones of the 8900 series, or a Miyota or ETA base. Beat rate is 21,600 vph or 28,800 vph. The genuine caliber runs at 25,200 vph.
  • Crystal: sapphire on better builds, mineral glass on cheap ones. Dome height runs shallow.
  • Bezel: 60 clicks on some replicas, 120 on the genuine.
  • Lume: weaker glow, shorter duration after charge.
  • Caseback: laser engraving replaces deep stamping.

Price bands

Low-end replicas run $80 to $150. Mid-tier runs $200 to $400. Top-tier first copy builds run $450 to $700. Price tracks finish, movement, and crystal. It does not track depth rating. No replica at any price tier has passed a 6,000 m pressure test.

Legal and safety notes

Omega and Swatch Group hold the trademarks and design rights. Import and sale of counterfeit goods is illegal in the US and the EU. Most watchmakers decline to service replica movements. Do not dive with a replica. Pressure at 6,000 m is about 8,700 psi.
