Hand stack: CHS and ICHS

Hand stack is the order of the hands on the center pinion. Correct hand stack (CHS) puts the 24-hour hand under the minute hand, near the dial. Incorrect hand stack (ICHS) puts the 24-hour hand on top. Genuine Rolex GMT calibres are CHS. Daylight saving shifts offsets twice a year in the United States, the European Union, and other regions. A fixed 24-hour scale does not track that. Reset the hand or the bezel.

Common faults on replica GMT movements

  • The 24-hour hand slips after a knock. The friction fit on the pinion is weak.
  • The date flips at noon. The movement was set 12 hours off.
  • The bezel drifts. The click spring is soft or the bezel ring is loose.

Limits
