The quickest way to identify a fake Audemars Piguet ref. 16202 is to measure it and time it. A genuine 16202 is a 39 mm Royal Oak Jumbo Extra-Thin that stands 8.1 mm tall and runs the calibre 7121 at 4 Hz. What ref. 16202 actually is

Audemars Piguet introduced the 16202 in 2022 as the 50th anniversary replacement for the 15202.   2. Read the beat rate. The calibre 7121 runs at 28,800 vph, or 4 Hz. The older 2121 in the 15202 runs at 19,800 vph, or 2.75 Hz. On a two-hander sold as a 16202, a slow and visibly lazy sweep points to the wrong movement.
  3. Test the date. The 7121 has a conventional quick-set date through the crown. If the date only moves when you rock the crown back and forth, the movement is a 2121 or a clone of it.
  4. Study the tapisserie. Genuine petite tapisserie is a machined grid of square pyramids with sharp crests and even depth. Fakes show rounded tops, uneven spacing, and a grid that flattens near the date aperture.
